Happy Kartika Poornima and Guru Nanak Jayanthi..
We in Orissa Celebrate the auspicious month of Kartika as it culminates today as Kartika Poornima!!
It is also called as Deva Diwali .In Orissa it is known as the Boita Bandana or the boat festival . Small toy boats with lamps and betel leaves are set afloat ..
Staying in Mumbai never stopped me from celebrating all these rituals which we have been celebrating since childhood. passing on this cultural heritage to the next generation is our duty I believe !!!
Note: once had a surprise click to be clicked and featured in TOI..

It was a pleasant surprise though !!

Dr. AMRITA

I have been missing out on this festival since college. But my childhood memories with grandpa and the ones with mom are still alive and fresh. I am mostly living this festival in my memories on this day. But i want my son to know these festivals of ours yet i am not so sure how i would make him get the feel of these festovals the way i have got. Bcz i have seen the preparations for the festivals but i don't think i ll b able to do them for him. I mean the rangoli, jhhoti, puja vidhi etc etc that my grandma and mom used to do since early morning. Half the times i am so engrossed in my world that i miss the dates of the local festivals and later realise after it is gone.😵
