Pre & Post Workout - What works for me!
My wellness trainer told me one workout mantra that I follow religiously: Eat a solid carb 1.5 hours before working out! So I grab a sandwich/a pao/a paratha/a bowl of rice whatever is convenient.
Recently I read drinking coffee an hour before you workout gives you extra turbo and so I tried it, and it really does!!! 
Now, coming to my post workout "nutrition tip". They say, eat a protein rich meal/snack post working out. I come back late evening after working out, so I dig into a bowl of salad and add sprouts/boiled egg/mushrooms or other stuff into it. Sometimes I add fruit like grapes/pomegranate into it to add extra crunch/zing and an element of surprise!
Somehow eating a bowl of chopped salad before dinner makes me feel full so I don't indulge in a heavy dinner. I avoid rice at night for many years now. 
Also, for lunch, I like to eat in a smaller thali. Somehow, a smaller thali makes me eat less :)
