On Sunday we were @kidventure_pune - A mommy and kid pop up exhibition. While checking out different stalls I came across this particular stall which was basically of an NGO for kids with special abilities named Ekansh. .
.
I happened to strike a conversation with the founder of the NGO - Ms. Anita Narayan and asked her what is the aim behind starting the NGO to which she answered by actually asking a question to me - “Do you see any child with special abilities around you in the event?”. My answer was obviously “No”. The next thing which she said actually made me thinking.
She said - “ This is what our aim is - to actually create awareness among normal people about these special kids so that we can include them in our lives like any normal person. They are not different, we have made them different with our thinking, behaviour and mannerism.
It  is time we opened our minds and  hearts  and let the truth enter. The truth is  that all of us are disabled in one way or the other…some more and some less. And  it is our solemn duty to respect  and ensure that every human being is given the  chance to live a WHOLE life regardless of natural disabilities”.
.
.
Isn’t it true that we have knowingly or unknowingly created a barrier between the abled and the disabled. It’s time we change this and let them lead the same normal lives which we are leading, which everyone in the world is entitled to. It will be possible if we include them in our lives and treat them as normally as possible. .
.
I have taken a small step by purchasing this book as it has seven stories where the central character is a special child. My aim through this book is to include special kids in K’s life as well so that next time when she sees or meets any child with special needs ,she is receptive and would treat them like how she treats everybody else.
