- Nutritious or toxic? Lets look at the ingredients used in these so called health drinks :
- corn maltodextrin - Sugar derived from corn. I don't know where pediasure that we get in India is manufactured. But if it is from the US, it is likely that they have used genetically modified corn.
- Oleic safflower oil - Highly processed
- Soy oil, Soy protein isolate and soy lecithin (likely GM, highly processed, contaminated with neurotoxic aluminum and carinogenic hexane, phytic acid, all these are linked to malabsorption of nutrients)
- Fructooligosaccharides - a chemical sugar additive, may pose toxicological and gastrointestinal dangers,
- Cellulose gel - Highly processed fiber we cannot digest.
- Calcium phospate, calcium carbonate - chemicals,not bio available
- Potassium phosphate- can cause allergies
- Potassium citrate, chromium chloride - toxic carcinogenic, has estrogenic properties, in animal studies causes issues with fertility in adulthood, agression, sex behavior changes, inhibits liver enzymes, adverse liver changes, oxidative stress and DNA damage, genotoxicity and adversely affects lymphocytes.
- Monoglycerides - Transfat linked to inflammation, obesity, increased LDL cholestrol.
- Carrageenan - Capable of causing inflammatory bowel disease
- Sucralose - Is splenda, artificial sweetner
- Potassium hydroxide - Toxic chemical found in drain cleaners
- ferrous sulfate, artificial flavor and color red #3 - Linked to hyperactivity, hypersensitivity, behavioral effects.
