Disclaimer: I am not an expert or trained professional. Am a mother like you and this is my experience following Montessori principles as basis.
Simply put, a Montessori environment allows children to learn about the world around them through the use of their senses. The aim is not to teach facts, but to cultivate a life-long love of learning
Homeschooling for younger kids helps them encourages all round development, with a little preparation you can create a wonderful learning environment for your children. It also better prepares them for when you plan to send them to a playschool.
1. First is your research - read about what is montessori, how to set up an environment and how to moderate it.
2. I began our journey when Kenisha was 14-15 months old. Follow the child and help him/her develop on their skills through simple activities.
3. Areas of development In Montessori are - Practical life skills, Sensorial activities, Mathematics., Language and Cultural Studies.
4. For a classroom environment prepare - low shelves to allow accessibility, small table chair, child size practical daily items likes glasses, plates, tongs etc and also baskets in small sizes.
5. Do not interfere and let the child self correct before you try to guide them.
6. Prepare a curriculum by referring relevant online resources to decide activities for the week
7. If the activity fails or the child doesn't show interest, reintroduce after a week or a month based on progress.
8. Rotate age and ability appropritae activities but ensure its challenging enough else they will lose interest
9. Introduce reading to your child to develop love for books.
10. Ensure you create a safe environment and baby proof the area.
