It means that the lower end of the placenta is touching the mouth of the uterus. Right now during pregnancy the internal os is the mouth of the uterus which opens into the vagina is closed. Once labor starts it will start to open and if the placenta is covering the internal os the placenta will deliver first and then the rest of the baby which is risky and doctor will opt for a surgical birth. As it is just touching the internal os in the next few weeks it will start moving upwards and hence will in most probability not impact the birth. During pregnancy if you have spotting or bleeding of any kind and the placenta is in this position then you are asked to rest. Take it slow and follow your doctor s advice.
