PREGNANCY WEIGHT GAIN

No secret , pregnancy and weight gain go hand in hand.Its often one of the hardest part for a women in pregnancy as in todays society women are judged and scrutinised for their body. Perfect body obsessions make the topic of pregnancy weight gain a touchy issue for some women.
*During pregnancy your nurturing a new life! So enjoy the new life inside you and your body knows what has to be done.

*Never compare your body or pregnancy to another women, each pregnancy even in same women are different.

*Do not diet in pregnancy, its dangerous for the baby and you. pregnancy is not the time to focus on weight loss but on healthy eating.

*Remember its temporary. After delivery you can always come back to pre pregnancy body.

*Always find gratitude in being pregnant.

*In pregnancy neither worry or lower your caloric intake unless instructed by a doctor or issues like pre pregnancy obesity or rapid increase in weight gain is there.


PATTERN OF WEIGHT GAIN IN PREGNANCY

*1st trimester  weight gain -You need not gain much weight  only 0 to 2 kgs .

*2nd trimester weight gain  should be steady for baby developments and growth .Weight gain of about 1 to 2 kgs per month is seen.



DISTRIBUTIONS OF PREGNENCY WEIGHT

*BABY =2 -3.4Kgs

*PLACENTA =0.5Kgs

*AMNIOTIC FLUID =4.0 -5.9 Kgs

*LARGER UTERUS =0.5 -1.1Kgs

*BREAST TISSUES =0.5 -1.4 Kgs

*INCREASED BLOOD VOLUME =1.0-1.8Kgs

*INCREASED FAT STORES =1.0 -3.6Kgs
A women gains about 12kg (8-16kgs) in average pregnancy.
HOW TO CONTROL WEIGHT GAIN IN PREGNANCY
*Eat small meals in frequent intervals. Keep snacking. Eating little and often maintains sugar levels

*Avoid oily , spicy and fried foods.

*Reduce sugar intake

*Increase fluid intake especially water

*Eat fresh fruits and vegetables a lot

*Consume Protein rich food like eggs , diary products , meat , nuts etc

*Increase intake of calcium rich food

*walk or exercise for 30 minutes daily(only with your doctors consent)

*Cut down junk and fast food

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO LOSE THE PREGNANCY WEIGHT



This too depends on each women.Ysually women lose weight by the time baby is 6 months old  and by 1 year you can be back to your pre pregnancy  weight.

Breast feeding  moms lose much faster too.



So mommies pls do not worry about the weight gain. Enjoy ! Its the best reason to eat whatever you want!
