question - if baby is given formula and bm 50-50 ratio then is there any need of iron supplement . as per my understanding g bm doesn't have iron in its composition and formulas like nan pro 2 does. when baby is exclusively breast fed ( in case of my he is 2onths premature ) he did require iron supplement as bm doesn't have iron . now when formula is given 50percent can we avoid iron supplement. this was adviced earlier when my baby was exclusively on bm he is approaching 6 months corrected age now
please clarify my doubt Sonali mam. request - my request to some moms.pkease just don't post the answer for the sake of writing answer as once answered the question may miss from notification and it may miss actual answer from some one who can actually answer it.

Even though the content of iron is low in breast milk it is very bio available and absorbs much better than iron supplements or iron from formula. Exclusively breast fed babies in fact do not need any iron supplements. You can safely avoid them as long as there is no observed deficiency.
