Reading is our daily activity. I introduced books to my kids when they were 2 months old. We started with big picture cloth books and touch and feel books and gradually moved to flip the flap books and short story books. Now at 16 months, they themselves bring their favourite book to me and ask me to read it for them. I realized reading the same books everyday keeps them enthusiastic as well as entertained. Also as we do rotation in toys we also do rotation in books that works well for us again. Apart from picture books I read them stories like The Big Blue Train, A Day In the Park, Easter Bunny surprise Story. Prisha Lalwani has some good experience with kid's books. Do share here Prisha.

There is lots of research on the importance of reading to your child. it promotes development of language and also lays down a foundation for early literacy. You can even read to your unborn baby ! just grab a simple easy book. Starters can even look at easily available book series like Pepper the dog or Bubbles the monkey. These series are very easily found at all book stores or even online. The text is simple and illustrations are cute. All stories convey core values for growing up children. Must Try!

hey thanks for the reminder pratiksha and thnx for tagging dhara! i started reading to my childoo since she was 15 days old :) now she is 9.5 yrs old and pretty much reads on her own - in fact now i make her read some short stories to me so i know what her books are about!!! i recently initiated her to tintin and try to read out some parts so she gets the expressions right! her current favs include roald dahl books, sudha murthy's grandmom stories, captain underpants. i also try to pick up not so known books from scholastic that have intriguing illustrations eg title's like jake's cooking craze, moin and the monster. she also reads on the kindle. we always gift books on bdays :) @5f6df8d8c0de0300457221e3 @616d0a578054f30013c5487f #tagfwd
