I read an article over the weekend. It was titled “I’m a mean parent”, and I instantly knew I shouldn’t read it. But I quickly glanced over the writer’s piece boasting and bragging all the things she does that make her “mean” and why she’s proud. In her opinion a mean mom = great parenting 🙄

It made me kinda sad that this is supposed to be idolized as superior parenting. Everything she listed was about controlling, limiting and denying her children. There was nothing about supporting, relationship building or respect. It was a lot of “I say no to everything and tell them what to do”

😖

So, for the record I wanted to say, I have zero desire to be a “mean parent”

In fact I believe in saying YES a lot! Because with every yes comes a learning experience and a memory. With every decision they make on their own, the more confident they become! ❤️

We believe in setting boundaries, equal respect, collaboration and independence building. Of course we are still figuring all that out, and it takes a lot of practice but it’s always the goal! ✨

I’m not interested in being powerful and controlling... I’m interested in raising emotionally healthy, kind, open minded people. 🤗

I’m also extremely interested in living life with them. In having a connected relationship into his adulthood.... for him to not need us, but to want us. 💕
