Society’s bounce back body fetish needs to stop. It’s incredibly traumatizing and harmful to compare bodies who grew and unleashed an entire person.
Giving birth is a perfect example that how we look is on the bottom of the list when it comes to what’s important about or bodies. Postpartum is sleep deprivation, recovery, stress, adjusting to a lifechanging event, trying to keep it together. Pressuring women to think about beauty and body ideals in such challenging times is cruel. Praising models, influencers, celebrities, and athletes for “bouncing back” is toxic. Commenting on someone’s body after they gave birth is malicious. Leave postpartum bodies be."
