Stretch mark is a vital concern of pregnancy. They are inevitable due to stretching of the abdominal skin as well as other areas due to rapid weight gain occurring during pregnancy. Blessed are those women who are genetically predisposed to not getting stretch marks. Almost 90% women do get them more or less depending upon their particular skin type and of course skincare taken during pregnancy. Multiple brands of skin care and stretch mark lotions oils and creams are available in the market.
Bio oil is all the talk of the stretch marks town. I would like to share my review of bio oil too. As the name suggests, Bio oil is an oil formulation packaged in a transparent bottle which comes in a paper cartoon. It has a screw type of closing cap with a hole on its nozzle for drop wise dispersal of the product on to the palms or directly to the area of application. So, there is no hassle about making a hole with a safety pin. The oil appears pink colored in the bottle but is transparent when taken on the palm for application. It smells herbal.

My verdict-
Bio oil is a versatile product catering to more issues other than pregnancy related stretch marks. It is a mineral oil based product with a light weight oil consistency that gets easily absorbed into the skin when applied. It is enriched with vitamin e which is essential for the stretched skin. It contains Benzyl Salicylate which lives up to its claim of being non comedogenic. So, it can be used on acne prone face and will work on body acne too. This makes it an all rounder effective product.
I use it on stretch marks prone areas i.e. abdomen, back, inner side of thighs and arms, groin regions, breasts, face, hair, and as a body lotion all over the limbs too. Using it twice everyday gives the best results. In the last trimester, frequency of reapplication can be increased to soothe the rapidly stretching skin and to keep itchiness and burning sensation of the abdominal and back skin at bay. One must start using it from the first trimester itself. But if you are starting to use it directly in the third trimester or post delivery then it may take 4 to 5 applications or even more to show its soothing results at once, and the stretch marks may only lighten. #momathon3
