I'm not a big fan of TV serials but I was sweet-talked (read forced) into watching this one by my wife, but, I didn't regret it one bit. Initially I wasn't keen on watching this and thought it to be another of those daily soaps with all the nonsense. But as I began watching the first episode I found it so beautifully crafted with an excellent plot and so close to reality that I binge-watched it until the end in one go.
Zindagi Gulzar Hai is a Pakistani drama series which ran on Zindagi TV (though I watched it on my laptop downloaded from YouTube). This one serial I found packed with a beautiful storyline, brilliant acting and easily relatable circumstances.
It is based on the novel by Umera Ahmad with the same name.
The title song, sung by Ali Zafar and Hadiqa Kiani;is deep, melodious and soulful and sets the mood for watching.
The female protagonist is a highly opinionated headstrong girl and extremely practical in her approach who doesn't believe in happy endings. On the other hand, the male protagonist is a fun-loving dreamer who likes to take his life easy.
The plot is so well written and executed with excellent awe-inspiring dialogues in rich Urdu that words (which I had no idea what they meant) fell on my ears feeling so beautiful only to create strikingly vivid imagination.
This captivating story which revolves around a normal lower middle class girl with strong moral values and her daily struggles to attain her dream struck a chord in my heart that no other drama could ever do. It shows how extremes of no two things can work together. You have to meet halfway with your partner to share your feelings and get reciprocated. Life might not be a bed of roses but the journey is definitely worthwhile if you have an understanding partner to walk it with.
Brilliant performance by the lead actors Sanam Sawed and Fawad Khan kept me longing for more. They make the characters alive with their superb acting that it all seems real.
This is probably one of the best Hindi serials I have seen in my entire life. It is a must watch for all those women who believe in individuality and independence when life gives happiness in the least of things we considered possible and all those men who believe in their women.
