SAME PINCH : NAIL CARE FOR BABY BabyV was a tiny baby at birth with only 2 kgs weight, so, naturally I was terrified of absolutely doing anything for her.
Whether its bathing, massaging or even changing nappies and diapers. But i was most afraid of cutting those tiny nails. But little by little I conquered my fears and became a pro at grooming my baby.
.
Here is a list of few tips and tricks which new moms can follow: 1. In case of newborns try to cut nails when they are sleeping and cut nails as soon as they grow up even a little bit. 2. Don't think that if the baby is wearing mittens so it's ok to let nails grow a bit. 3. Always file the sharp edges of nails after cutting using Emery board. 4. In case of toddlers try to cut nails by distracting them with a toy or book or even some screen time. 5. Don't even distract your kid while nails cutting with something exciting. As to much excited kid can result in accidental nicks and cuts. 6. Don't ever put baby's nails in mouth as it's one place that contains too many germs and can contaminate baby's fingers. Also it will introduce the habit that it's ok to put nails in mouth. 7. Lastly take your time while trimming the nails and don't panic even if you accidentally cut a little. Personal tip: when my daughter grew up to the toddler stage, she was not at all happy with nail cutting activity. So, I made a game of it and I started trimming my nails while trimming hers. So she started easily recognizing the activity and it has become our routine now.
If you have an elder child you can take their help and trim both kids nails together.
