Should we follow "TO DO" & "NOT TO DO" LIST during Pregnancy ?
Being pregnant is always a wonderful feeling for a woman. When the good news is annouced there is a sudden burst of positive vibes in the house. House is filled with happiness and joy. We can see the smiling faces all around making plans for the baby. Just the thought of being a parent fills us with enthusiasm and excitement. 👶💕
In all this excitement the mom to be actually in surprise , starts thinking will I be a good mother? how will my life be now on?.... and so on...many questions come across her mind. 💭
Soon the feeling of being pregnant starts sinking in, it is followed by hundreds of suggestions by almost each person who comes in touch with you throughout the day....📢
Suggestions include "NOT -TO- DO" & "TO -DO " List . Should this list be followed ?📝
I have listed a few points in " NOT- TO- DOT & TO- DO List over here . The suggestions that are irrelevant are marked with ❌ and the relevant ones are marked with ✔
"NOT - TO- DO" list 🙅
1. No Alcohol
❌ Some amount of alcohol will not be harmful
✔ Alcohol is a strict no-no even in small amounts. It has adverse effects on baby's development. Baby can born with defects if pregnant women consumes alcohol
2. No Coffee
❌ You should not drink coffee at all ✔You can drink coffee during pregnancy but only 1 cup daily.
3. No Flight
❌You should not travel by flight during your pregnacy
✔Actually you can travel by flight during your pregnacy after consulting your doctor. Only for high risk pregnancy cases travelling by flight is not allowed. I happened to travel for a conference by flight during my pregnancy, earlier my doctor gave the permmision but later it was cancelled due to my health issues. I will be sharing my long pregnancy story soon..📝
4. No Sex
❌Having sex will harm your baby
✔Sex during pregnancy is considered as a taboo. But it is completely safe (except first trimester) if we take care of the position. Naturally the cervix has a mucus plug which will prevent any infections.
5. No Papaya
❌Eating papayas cannot cause abortion.
✔ Raw papaya can be harmful because it contains latex substance. Best would be they are avoided if you are pregnant or trying to conceive
6. Not attending particular events
❌You should not attend family weddings
✔Actually this is just a superstition. It might have started to avoid any mishap as our weddings are crowded. And its not safe for pregnant ladies to move around in crowd.
7. No exercise
❌ Exercise by pregnant ladies can harm the baby
✔ Exercise actually helps pregnant ladies to cope up with the dynamic changes taking place in their body.
8. Not informing about good news in first trimester
❌ Not informing about the pregnancy news till first trimesters to anyone
✔ This is done till first trimester as first three months are highly risky. However alongwith family we can inform our close friends and office , as per choice.
9. Not buying babyclothes before the birth
❌Not buying baby clothes before the baby birth.
✔We must atleast buy some basic essential to be in preparatory state to welcome our baby.
"TO - DO" List 🙋
1. Have saffron with milk for a fairer baby skin
❌ Having saffron in milk just for the sake of fairer baby skin.
✔ Skin colour of the baby is completely genetic and we cannot change it anyhow. Eventhough, we cannot change baby skin by having milk but drinking milk would be definately helpful for mother.
2. You should eat double than your regular diet
❌ Have double the food portion when your pregnant.
✔Having double the food will not help in anyway. Mothers need to increase her intake but she can wisely do that by focussing on nutritous healthly options instead of having empty calories.
3. You should fulfill your pregnancy cravings
❌ Not have to many pregnancy cravings
✔ But I think a mom to be, deserves to have all that she craves for unless your doctor has given you a particular diet.
4. You should watch and hang pictures and posters of beautiful babies in your room
❌ This is of no use
✔ Actually if a pregnant woman sees a positive beautiful picture everyday around her it keeps her positive throughout the day. It helps her be stress and anxiety free.
5. New mother should only drink hot water
❌After delivery mothers should drink only hot water.
✔Production of breastmilk requires a good intake of water. So the daily intake of water must be increased by mom after deliveey. Postpartum mothers are already dealing with a lot. In all these drinking only hot water is really not needed. Its benefits of healing stitches are really not proven.
Soon after delivery mothers are asked to drink only hot water which is not possible for some. And in our country like india, weather is really hot amd humid so it is not advisable.
These list are summarized as per my experiences. I suggest you to follow all the ✔ points.
