Small white patches surrounded by reddish inflammation appearing in the mouth are known as mouth ulcers or canker sores. They generally appear on the inner side of the lips, on the gums, or sometimes on the tongue. Besides physical injuries like biting or friction due to the braces, fungal infection, or underlying health issues; nutrient deficiency also contributes to mouth ulcers. Based on this, one of the ways to support healing of the mouth ulcers is to include two such nutrients whose deficiency can lead to mouth ulcers.
The first one is Vitamin B.
Vitamin B-rich foods like milk, cheese, eggs, green leafy vegetables, legumes, etc. support healing, reduce the discomfort, and lower the chance of recurrence of the ulcers.
The second one is Zinc.
Zinc helps reduce the pain caused by ulceration and promotes healing. Adding zinc-rich foods like whole grains, milk, cheese, yogurt, beans, chickpea, nuts, etc. is also a good choice to treat mouth ulcers.
So next time you suffer from a mouth ulcer make sure you include these 2 important nutrients in your diet along with the recommended treatment for the same to accelerate the healing.
