Social anxiety in children may cause them to skip social interactions. It is also known as Social phobia. The symptoms of social anxiety in children are broadly categorized into the following terms:
a. Physical Sensations - stomach ache, blushing, perspiration, shortness of breath, palpitations.
b. Emotions - Agitation, irritability, Fear, Embarrassment, Shame
c. Behavior - Refusal to go outside, avoiding participation in social activities, declining the invitation to social events, needing parental presence, poor eye contact.
d. Thoughts - “I might say something stupid”, “People won’t like me”, “I will be a laughing stock”. #childbehaviour#emotionalwellness
