The lady in the picture is my gynaecologist Dr. Anita Krishna Mohan. We shifted to Bangalore on 5th November, 2015 and on 23rd Nov, I discovered I was pregnant. In a totally new city and new place, how to figure out for a doc, who would actually be best was a biggest challenge. We took two days, a lot of research on the internet and information from couple of friends. Our friends suggested us with hospitals, but not doc's. It was through Google and reviews we zeroed in on Dr. Anita practicing with Fortis hospital BG road.;
We first scheduled our appointment with her on 25th November. Our first meet and we knew, we were at the right place in the right hands. "Welcome to pregnancy" is what she said with a beaming smile. She never hurried us with anything, took time to explain every term, every scan, every medication, every change. Everytime she checked the baby's heartbeat "it's a happy baby" is what her reaction would be. Every precaution was so well explained to me. Her only demand would be that my husband should accompany me during my every visit. Pregnancy was smooth and happy throughout. No cravings, some ups and downs here and there, now my body had to feel pregnant right !!! I was due on 3rd Aug 2016 as per Edd. My appointment on 29th July and she said, "Mahima, there's no sign of your cervix having softened up. We will wait till the after of; 2nd Aug and induce labour or probably if it doesn't work we will go ahead with a C Section. " If your wondering why she didn't wanna wait beyond then she gave me a reason for that too. A full term baby only gains unnecessary weight staying in and can cause complications.;
Whatever it was, I kept praying for a normal and my prayers got answered. On the early hours of 1st of August at around 3am, I felt like as if a bubble had burst there under. I rushed to the toilet only to realise I was bleeding. In no time we reached the hospital, they weren't ready to believe I was in labour, yes my contractions had started. Simply because my prescription said labour induction on 2nd night. They called the doc who asked them if they were sane enough. That's it I was taken in, my vitals and baby's vitals being monitored. It was the beginning of breastfeeding week and my gynac had a speech to deliver at 9am. She came in by 8am and check on me, I had a 6 cm dilation, asked me if I wanted to go for epidural and I was very sure about it. She said she will back, at 9am another junior doc had checked and I was fully dilated, my doc was called in. She left her speech to attend to me. When everybody tried to convince that the juniors would handle till she finishes " she is my responsibility and so is her baby" was her answer.;
Everything ready, my husband next to me, but my son had some other plans. He was constantly moving and had wound the cord around his neck. Now he was stuck inside, usually during a labour for a first timer the bones are stubborn to create space. Aarav's heartbeat was dropping and so was my BP. He was under severe foetal distress, I was tired to push. In 10sec , she made a decision to pull him out using forceps. 10 secs later, my baby was out he wasn't breathing properly, because he had chocked.;
She came back to me later and as doc she said it was a miracle to have you both alive. She was in tears and just hugged me tight, she is a well known doc for high risk deliveries even in the Gulf (read from reviews). What she said was very touching "every delivery is different, but yours was absolutely a challenge. All I wanted was to give you, your baby healthy and happy. All these 9 months have been such happy ones and I couldn't see it fading away. My heart and soul goes out with you." She is not just an angel, but a lot more to me and my husband. My husband recollects and tells me only one thing "Mahima there was so much blood all over the room including her saree, but she was so calm and patient and humble. Everytime we appreciate her, she says "it's not just me it's my team too without them I couldn't do it alone." She gave me my baby happy, healthy and what else I would want as a mother. Everytime after that when I used to visit the hospital whether for me or Aarav, she made sure to pick him up and give him a hug.;
