The Menstrual Cup...

Periods!!!!😫😫!!! Painful, wet, mood swings, PMS, the stains and what not!!! There's always a silence that prevails amongst our Indian families when it comes to a girls puberty and menstruation. Some cultures announce and make it a big show occasion, while some choose to silently celebrate it. While some choose to juat let it go with the flow of life and behave normal which is actually how it's supposed to be received.;

Preparing the girl for puberty is a big task for the mother, and the first thing she will tell her daughter is "no more playing with boys, no more looking at boys." It like she is giving an idea of what to really do now. Moving from using cloth sanitary pads to sanitary pads and tampons has taken decades for Indian women, while some still use the cloth napkins. Be it the price factors, availability factors or other factors like disposal and age old traditions women are still under a lot of pressure. The lastest in the market is the menstrual cups, and more than ³/⁴th of the woman population doesn't know a lot about it or nothing about it.;;

Our menstrual pads take about 800 years to decompose and become dust. Really!!!😧😧 ...yes, that's the answer, so what do they do sitting around, pollute the atmosphere with the plastic and polymer used in making them. I'm sharing this info as per my experience with menstrual cups and I find it more convenient and comfortable. Invest once and rest for the next 8-10 years.;

Menstrual Cups.;
1. They are made of medical grade silicone and are absolutely safe.;
2. Come in two varieties with tail and without tail.;
3. Different brands are available and range starts from ₹600-1000/-.
4. How to choose - a. choose the tailess one if you have low cervix.
b. A medium or large cup for mom's and a small or medium cup for unmarried young women and women who haven't gone through a delivery.;
5. Will it get lost inside, No!
6. Maintenance is zero, wash it with warm water each time after use. You can use a mild soap to clean it. But ensure to wash it thoroughly, soap can cause irritation inside the vagina.;
7. Till you get a hang of using it use a pad along. After that you can forget pads forever.;
8. Who can use - every woman can use it
But some restrictions are definitely to be observed. * You cannot use a menstrual cup if you have delivered recently, after delivery wait until you complete 6-8 months.;
* If you suffer from haemorrhoids or piles or urinary tract infection or vaginal infection or STDs
*Avoid using if you feel dry and uncomfortable.;
*Avoid using in case of a miscarriage or abortion until 3 months .
9. You will need to discard if it ever falls into the toilet commode.;
10. You can empty it after every 8 hours, since I'm at home I choose to do it after 4-6 hours. If you have a very heavy flow on anyday you might need to empty it in between.;

Go ahead get yours today... Trust me it's gonna be a happy period forever. Although it will do nothing about your PMS and mood swings.. the kich kich of having to change and feeling wet is gone... period nights will be the best nights ever once you start using a cup.... Hope this info helps.
