There is so much of Fuss about Fussy eaters but strange fact is Fussy eating is normal part of child's development since growing Babies tend to explore their environment and assert their independence when it comes to Food .Sometimes they don't like the Color /texture of food offered to them or sometimes they are too busy concentrating on other milestone (may be walk or speech ) that food is the very last thing to cross their minds which results in rejection of some foods or the other but the good news is as Babies tends to grow ,their fussiness with respect to variety of textured and colored Foods diminishes.
I have gone through similar situations for past 2 months where in my little one was rejecting almost everything being offered to her except Chapathi and nothing worked including offering her variety of new food items starting from cutlets to pancakes to smoothies ,soups and what not 😗 .
Here are 3 tips which helped me majorly in making my little one comfortable with variety of textured and colored foods and control Food Fussiness to an extent 👇👇
🌴Involvment in Food Preparation:Yes ,you read it right !This is something which helped me majorly since Food Fusiness is mainly because Babies and toddlers are pretty much uncomfortable with the texture or Color of food and by involving them in the food preps ,you can actually help them to achieve a get along and safe feeling with the rejected food (it was mainly vegetable with my toddler ).Next time if your toddler is showing resistance to any of the vegetable like Spinach , hand over it to your toddler and let your toddler involve in spinach preparation by letting them know how to pluck the leaves out of stem and get them involved in the process of separating the leaves and ask them to hand over to mommy so that mommy can prepare the meal .I did same couple of times unintentionally and it worked surprisingly .My toddler was eager to eat spinach curry only because she remembered her involvement in food preps and was pretty excited to eat the spinach curry hence.Bonus point -A new activity to keep your toddler hooked for quite a good couple of minutes 🖐😂
🌴Make Eating a Fun rather a Task -I found this extremely useful with my Toddler as like us Babies tend to look for change too !Try switching from regular routine to Exciting way of both Presenting and Eating Meals.Dont you think consuming a meal (gravy ) is more fun when directly gulped from a bowl rather using spoon or hands ??Well my toddler thinks so 😂
🌴Let the hunger Kick :Yes that's right !Let the kids feel hungry and ask for food rather than running after them .Believe me this helps a lot since sometimes we don't know how much hunger has actually striked those tiny tummy's and we keep offering food and running after toddlers expecting them to finish the meals and that's where fussiness begins. Toddler throws tantrums and fussiness in eating meals when not completely hungry .Offcourse that does not mean letting them sleep hungry but be sure to wait for a toddler ask time of may be 30 mins before nagging about Food yourself at the first place.This worked for me and helped in reducing fussiness to an extent as my toddler ate most of the food offered when hungry.
