This is my third post in the #MommyTakeOver and now I am going to share my experience on delivery and baby care.
As I already told you that I had pregnancy PUPPPS in the 40th week of my pregnancy. The tenth month had started and there were no signs of labor. In U.A.E, Doctors wait till the very end for the normal labor. My EDD was 18th January 2019. I complained of Pregnancy PUPPPS on 13th January and dermatologist prescribed me some medicine and ointment. Nothing was working on my n I was getting restless day-by-day. My rashes were becoming worse and itching. I used to feel so hot n sweat. Sweating worsen the rashes and they used to itch even more. I scratched so hard the my arms and legs were bleeding badly. So I went to doctor on 17th January complaining that nothing is working. She said let's wait for one more day and if labor doesn't come, then will sit and decide what has to be done next. Nothing happened on my EDD as well so I packed my bag and headed towards hospital, completely ready for pain induction and delivery.
Even the thought of normal delivery used to thrill me earlier, but that day I was fully determined. Doctor examined me and told me that the cervix was closed and labor doesn't seem to be coming even after inducing pains because my baby's head was not attached. She added that in 40 weeks pregnancy, baby's head was 40 weeks and 2 days old and the baby's abdomen was 41 weeks old (main cause of the PUPPPS). The amniotic fluid is supposed to decrease in the later stages of pregnancy, but in my case, it increased. It was 15 units in 39th week and later reached 24 units in the 40th week because of increased sugar levels. She recommended C-section delivery. I was horrified to hear about it. It already took me 8 months to prepare for bearing the pain of normal delivery, and now when I was ready, God changed the plan 😅 now it was more difficult to prepare myself for the blade to cut open my stomach within 8 hours.
As I was proceeding towards the operation theatre, I panicked and was shivering badly. I believe in Gayatri Mantra. So I chanted it throughout my operation and delivered a baby girl. Soon after the delivery, she was taken to the nursary and I was in the Anesthesia Recovery Room for next 4 hours. I couldn't sleep. I was so excited to see my little girl.
Then came the time when they took me to the room at 4am and I met my daughter at 5am. Nurse told me that she is being fed with formula milk twice already. And I was told to feed her after 2 hours.
It was 6:55 am when I was getting ready to feed her and I felt she is about to throw up. I tried moving to lift her up n felt pain like hell. *Who says that C-section delivery is painless*. I told my husband to lift her but he said he can't (well understood as he is a new dad). Then I asked my mom-in-law to pick her up. To my surprise, she too denied and my daughter threw up 😔. Because she is lying on her back, she gulped all her vomit and choked. We immediately called the nurse and luckily she came so fast. She saw that her lips turned blue and she closed her eyes. The nurse held my daughter and ran. My husband and mom-in-law followed her to NICU where all the vomit was removed through a suction pipe.
My little angle was admitted in NICU for next 2 days and doctor told us that there is a valve between esophagus and stomach which closes after everytime the food enters. Her valve is 10% open which will be fine after 6 months.
Since then we hold our daughter in the up-right position for half an hour after every feed. And put her to sleep on a slant surface. We have to make sure she is lying on a slope 24x7. We ignore it for a second and she spit all the milk.
It is my advice to all the pregnant ladies out there to please make sure you feed your baby with your milk only. Don't let anyone to give your new born formula milk.

Scary! Thank God she was resuscitated at time. Its always very important to choose a hospital for delivery that has a NICU and a blood bank at least of its own.
