I have been married for almost 7 years now..but this is a subject that I have not yet made peace with yet, and not likely to. I have not changed my surname after marriage. I still have an unspoken cold war with my mother-in-law on the subject but I have refused to budge. My maiden name is an integral part of my identity and I am not willing to give it up. I have added on the additional surname but not officially. I am sure there are some who have willingly changed too but shouldn't it be a matter of choice? What do you guys think?

I haven't changed my name. My husband got.booked on a ticket once as Mr. Dua!! it was hilarious. I haven't felt the need to change it and that rests my case.

I haven't changed my surname. I add up in laws surname with my name but not officially. There is no sense to change our personal identity.

I totally agree with you dear.....it's definitely the matter of choice then only you can accept it by heart n enjoy otherwise it feels like a burden or forceful identity which has no meanings at all.... my sentiments were also attached with my Surname but fortunately my hubby have the same surname else I wouldn't have changed it for sure...but dear don't live with grudges it's very painful just open up n clear your point with your in laws n live peacefully.
