question
today I felt very upset at office. my child is unwell and I had to leave office earlier. there was nothing urgent for me to finish but some colleagues remarked oh you are leaving early everyday. you mothers have it so easy. that is not the case at all! I have to work so hard for both my job and home. this made me really upset. that colleague didn't know anything about how I manage. why will he just pass such remarks. how should I respond in an appropriate way next time so he shuts up ?

I can understand that such remarks can hurt. But the best way is not respond to such remarks! You are not working to please them, are you? Your work should satisfy you as a person and meet your objectives of going to work. Yes you must ensure that your performance meets the expectations of your supervisor and your company. If that's not happening, then you might need to introspect. But nothing comes before your and your child's health. So prioritize that always - doesn't matter who says what!

Is he even worth your reply? What he says does not and should not matter. Lots of love to you. You're a great mother and worker. Be proud of juggling both beautifully
