Traveling with Baby : a quick and all encompassing checklist This gives me horror. And I always loose my sleep a couple of nights before my day of travel. Is it just me? I literally go paranoid over this travel thing and it stays the same way till I actually finish my journey.
I traveled with her by air for the first time when she was a week away from completing her five months and I decided, (yes, I said 'decided' for a reason - will explain later) to travel by train too a couple of days ago. I initially thought that my first travel by air was easier than the one with her in the train but it's not actually so. It has only a little to do with the mode of transport, it's more to do with your baby's age and the duration of travel.
But still, it's easier to travel with a younger baby than a one who has learned crawling. So in fact, now that I really think about it, the choice to travel by train at her age now was a right decision. And yes, I chose train this time was for two reasons apart from the fact that I had the time to travel by train : she now doesn't like being at one place/ wants to explore and I wanted her to have her train travel milestone in her first year.
The super fussy mom that I am, and the number of nights of sleep that i missed for this ( both times), I thought it's a good idea to share my checklist of travel with this amazing supermom community. Clothes - pack according to the weather. Make sure to check the temperature and pack extra pair of warm clothes or really summery one as per the weather. Include socks, pyjamas, thermal wear as per need.
.
Medicines - the super essential ones being - for fever, stomach pain, first aid and any other vitamin etc that your baby might be on.
.
Toys - sort your baby's favourites.
.
Extra diapers - when you need them - you need them. There's nothing like I will reach the destination and buy more.
.
Her everyday essentials - lotions, soap, oil, cream, talc, brush, comb, nailcutter etc.
.
Wipes - these are like your best friend. Never travel without these. They can save you from more reasons than you can even think of.
.
Baby utensils - feeding bottles, sippers, bowls, spoons. Pack extra ones and don't forget to sterilise them all.
.
Baby food - try keeping variety. Atleast three. These tiny ones can't be understood ever. Formula/cereal/both.
.
Boiled water for them and some extra too.
I even traveled with the electric kettle once. If you have steriliser, even better.
.
Power charger for your mobile phone. Well, this is not the thing your baby may need but definitely the one that can save you from problems. Even better to have a reference contact number of your baby's doctor too.
.
Mosquito Repellent.
.
Sanitizer.
.
Handwash.
.
Diaper rash cream.
.
All purpose antiseptic cream.
.
Extra plastic bags for a lot of things you may need to store - used wipes, diapers, clothes etc.
.
Extra foldable bag to carry anything extra that you may end up buying during your travel.
.
Some not- so- essential : milestone cards, cameras, feeding pillow, nursing cover etc.
.
Changing mat, rubber sheets, disposable mats etc.
.
Blanket/Quilt/Swaddle wraps.
.
A couple of small hand towels.
.
This is my all inclusive travel checklist for my travel. Let me know if you think I missed something.

A great read for mommies who travel out have travel on the cards. Quite a comprehensive list. I first travelled with my baby when he was 10 months. It was by air. A smooth journey, thanks to the prep work I'd done before embarking on that journey. He now runs around so even we prefer a train ride. Oh.. and one thing I used to carry was my induction stove to cook when he was 14 months. I still avoid outside food and he's now 1.5 yrs. :)

And that hand blender part😋, I was thinking of that...while I do carry the electric kettle to some places. Colouring books sound like a good idea...may be when my bugaboo reaches that stage. Thanks for the ideas!

hey @616d52598054f30013c5722b - sorry to knw ur query got missed. now u knw who all to tag! i dont think its a myth at all. the sucking helps deal with the air pressure that hurts the ears. i fed my baby while taking off and landing unless she was asleep and it helped. while landing the air pressure still troubles her so she chews gum (she is nearly 10 yrs old now) and i have to shut her ears real hard. pls use cotton as well. tc and good luck.
