#fun _oriented Cabin fever? Lack of routine? When children are in school, they have a sense of independence and control that is different from home life. Here are some ways to give children agency and a sense of predictability in the coming weeks: HEALTHY CONTROLS: Let your child teach you; songs, games, dances, Allow them to be the leader in a game like Simon Says or make up the rules to a classic board game, Reverse Roles and allow them to be the parent for a day; allow them to make up silly rules, choose meals (even if it’s ice cream for breakfast) and pick out your clothes, When meal planning allow your child to choose options for meals, Let them create- art, recipes in the kitchen, complete a puzzle. PREDICTABILITY: Set a daily schedule similar to wake and sleep times when attending school, continue to pack lunches in your child’s lunch box that they can eat at the kitchen table, make sure they are dressing out of pajamas and brushing their teeth each morning, play familiar games with rules,
provide paint or color by numbers to give some structure,
establish a standard recess time each week day,
don’t commit to plans or activities that may be cancelled later;
only inform them of plans within your own control. #bbcreatorsclub
