Valaikaapu(Bangle festival) Baby shower in universal language , though I'm a Christian we follow few things according to Tamil Indian culture like we don't wear rings but wear mangalsutra for the wedding, Valaikaapu is one such occasion celebrated to honour the ' mother to be'.

Highlights of the function are as follows
* It's done at Sasural and mom to be will leave to her maayka after that, However time has changed now as people are working etc so they stay in their place itself like I choose to stay in Mumbai.
* Parents bring bangles, 4 types of sweets,; silk saree, silver bangle etc for their daughter.
* 5 types of variety rice are served for me they served tamrind rice, lemon rice, mint rice, curd rice, bisebella bath with other eatables. ( It's believed that pregnant women will crave for katta meeta etc so 5 types here)
* All the married women will bless the mom to be with chandan,kumkum and put 2 bangles, Many won't take off these bangles till delivery. But I'm definitely taking it off after a week (too much itching)
