Water is believed to help in the process of digestion. It’s always a good to drink plenty of water and stay hydrated during the day.
But when you drink plenty of water during your meal it could leads to dilution of the gastric juices and essential enzymes in the stomach that aid digestion, which leads to slowing down of the digestion process. The food remains in the system for a longer period of time which could result in acid reflux and heartburn.
It is suggested that one should drink water after an hour of meal instead of drinking water during the meals to avoid such conditions of discomfort.
It's always a good idea to keep yourself hydrated but do it the right way.
