I'm sure some of you would have heard about this "Sathumaavu" given to babies post 6 months, These are packed and sold in lot of online websites as well. This is definitely a power packed flour suitable for babies, kids and even adults. And when you make it at home it's much more healthier and you can be sure of hygiene.

Ingredients :
1. Ragi /Nachini/Finger Millet : 300 gms
2. Wheat : 200 gms
3. Corn dried / Makka: 200 gms
4. Bajra/Pearl Millet : 200 gms
5. Brown Rice : 200 gms
6. Green gram dal : 200 gms
7. Roasted channa dal/ Bhuna channa /phutana : 200 gms
8. Urad dal : 200 gms
9. Channa dal: 200 gms
10. Almonds/Badam : 50 gms
11. Pista : 50 gms
12. Cashews : 50 gms
13. Ground nuts : 50 gms
14. Cardamon / Elaichi : 3 or 4
15. Dry ginger or Dry ginger powder : 1 tsp

Now the real work begins... You need to dry roast everything separately with lot of patience. Once it is cooled down grind it a mixer and store it in a air tight container, For a month or 2 you can store it outside, Can also be refrigerated for longer period. If you can give to mill man and grind, it will be more easy.

Cooking Method : Mix 1 table spoon of this powder to 1 cup of water or more and mix without any lumps, then put it on the stove in low flame and cook, stir continuously. You can add 1 or 2 table spoon of milk(optional). Add a generous amount of ghee and switch off the fire, Cool and serve.

Once your baby completes 6. 5 months it's better to move out of porridges and offer handsmashed food, porridges does not give them opportunity to chew. They will simply gulp down the foods and you will have major issues bringing them to family food. I give this to Athu twice or thrice a week as dinner.. Breakfast and lunch she is on family meals without salt and less spice. And she can chew well so she manipulates the food offered and doesn't gulp down the food.

For kids and adults cook it in the same way just add more water and milk, Never offer this as a wholesome meal, we all need proper breakfast. May be make this in weekends or offer this to kids in the evening instead of sugar loaded market drinks. Looking at the ingredients here you can make out how healthy this is.

Note: Ragi might constipate few babies so do watch out. You can also half the quantity of the ingredients and make as a trial.
