Weekend learnings.

1) I was hearing sister shivani's talk on YouTube the other day where she spoke about why children are never wrong!

What? We often complain about today's kids being less Obedient, less compassionate and less respectful, isn't it? I myself wondered how didn't she find them wrong.

But her explanation made sense- true sense.

She said- 'Every soul need acceptance'

From your husband, to children to parents to the people that you work with.

Everyone needs acceptance.
When children are young, we teach them to tell the truth and we want to be their confidante. Hence, children come to us to tell us about all the fun stories and mischief they do. We find them cute, laugh at it. Tell their stories to others. They feel accepted. They come and tell you things again and again.
But, what happens when they grow older? With they same honesty when they come and tell you, Mumma i bunked my school today and went for a movie with my friends. Do you still laugh at it? Nep! We all turn kali maa then😂

We make them feel guilty about this action, warn them, threaten them and might as well raise our hands. That soul, your child feels unaccepted. They don't stop doing what they were doing. They just start hiding, bcz we didn't accept.
Sister explains-

'Your side of the story'

Bunking class and going to movie is wrong? Yes!

Coming home late from a party is wrong? Yes!
Child's side of the story-

I want to go for a movie or a party with my friends, because everyone from our class will be going. And I know they will have fun. And if I don't go today, they will make fun of me, maybe never ask me out again. And I want to be a part of this group.
Is it wrong? Nope.
How would you explain your child this and make him feel accepted?
I know they are your close friends, you want to have good time with them. And when everyone from your class is going, your feeling to join them is not wrong. You are not wrong. Your temptation is not wrong.

But, when you bunk your class to go for a movie, it will affect your studies. And that is wrong. You are not wrong, but the thing you are doing to have pleasure is wrong.
The soul, your child automatically feels accepted and comes closer. They will now come and share their teenage time issues with you more often.
Befriending doesn't mean being cool around your child and talking slang with your kids. It takes a lot for a teenager to come and pour himself out while in dilemma...
They age of 14 to 23 is super vulnerable. we all have gone through it. and now, things are worst emotionally. How you behave with them now, will direct them as to how much and what they can share with you later in life :)
Hope this helps your parenting journey.
Also, I learnt to use google Calendar this weekend :P
Also what did you learn this weekend? did you try a new recipe? explored a new place? saw something new?
