What are the symptoms of premature delivery? How long they happen. I am asking because if it happens I can be alert and can go to doctor because I am having short cervix. At 21 weeks 2.4 cm. Now I am 25 weeks. I asked doctor for scan she said it's not needed now and everything is normal. But I am tensed about it. Can premature delivery be stopped? She told me to have Duvidilan (R) 40 mg -morning and night for 2 months. Is it ok to have it? What vl be it's benefits and side effects. Will it have any bad effects on baby or it's just to stop premature delivery?

Hey Amita,
Having a short cervix usually means having your cervix length shorter than 3.
Repeatitive scans are not necessary. Duvadilan tablet is given to help relax your uterus muscle which is necessary for mom's who have short cervix. It will not be harmful for your baby. It will help you pass your pregnancy and prevent premature birth.
Signs of Premature labor can be pain in vagina or lower abdomen which does not settle with walking. Bleeding from vagina. Less kicks or less movement of the baby. Hardening or tightening of your bump.
Quick tip - keep a kick count, keep a close check on your vaginal discharge, take ur medicines regularly, eat small frequent meals every 2-2.5 hours, meditate & bond with the baby

Dear Amita, The gyn won't prescribe anything that is harmful for the baby... u just need to take a lot of rest, avoid heavy work and take proper and healthy diet!! most importantly, stay positive and cheerful throughout this period.. pregnancy is a beautiful and memorable tym for a lady and stress should be avoided!!! regarding the symptoms of premature delivery, be in regular contact with ur gyn n inform her about any probs or sudden pains, always trust your instincts and whenever you feel the need to go to the hospital, u must go... stay happy!!! :)
