Infection is caused when the count of bad bacteria in a baby's gut exceeds the count of good bacteria that helps fight infections. Hence, immunity is less and there is a chance of disease. It's important to breastfeed a baby until 6 months at least, exclusively. Since bm contains prebiotics that help increase count of good bacteria. I hope the info helps.
