What is Sensory Play ??
Sensory Play activities are the one that stimulates your Babies senses i.e touch ,smell,Taste, hearing and so on.
How does Sensory Play help your child Practically ?
Consider an example here If your child is a fussy eater and has problem eating foods with wet texture like noddles or similar sort then allowing your baby to actually play with anything wet like wet colors or so (Sensory activity ) allows your baby to feel safe and secure since this Sensory Play activity sends a signal to a brain giving a positive message of safety and security so next time when your baby deals with any food items having wet texture they feel safe and might end up in actually eating those foods.
Hence It is so very important to involve Babies in Sensory Play activities as these activities have been proven effective not only in cognitive development of Babies but also helps Babies in developing Fine and gross motor skills which helps your baby in dealing with simple and complex tasks .Research suggests that these activities keep your frustated and anxious baby calm too and helps baby understand Sensory attributes like hot ,cold and so on.
Playing with Colors -Sensory Play
Playing with colours either wet or dry is one of those sensory activity which Babies enjoys the most. How often we have heard about the impact of colours on Persons mood ?? Or about colour therapy ??Okay let's not dig into the colour therapy .The essence lies in providing your Babies with Sensory Play activities like colours ,textures ,water which allows babies to explore the world in an altogether different way.
Let your Babies play with different textures ,water, colours and you will be surprised to know the soothing effect they have on Baby's Brain.
So few weeks back I have provided my lil one an opportunity to try both wet colours and dry colours which I made at home and are edible too :)
How to prepare Colours at home :
You can prepare the homemade edible colors in 2 ways
1. Mix all the three ingredients together -Wheat Flour + water +Food colour
2. Homemade curd +Food colour
So we tried the first option and my lil one literally loved Splashing the Colours over her face and on the floor

I allowed her to play independently and explore and Be as creative as she can 😍She was putting those colours all over the face and body and Enjoying 😘😘
And then.she cried for sometime when finally I took her out of this activity 🙄😁
Try this activity before baby bath time so that it's easy to clean the messy Baby and Do not forget to oil massage baby before this activity so that colours come out easily during bath 😍.Be sure that your baby either wears old clothes or nothing at all except Nappies ;)
We also tried this activity using dry colors in the form of Creating Rangoli over the floor.Although my lil one was busy in feeling the texture of Rangoli and Splashing it here and there .For this activity again you can prepare using Wheat Flour +Food colour (Don't add water and you are good to go )

Do try both the colour play activities and see if your lil one loves them too like mine and allow the Lil minds to explore :)
Note :These activities should be performed under adults supervision
Any suggestions Please provide in the comments :)
