When I was 17 , I moved out of my house to stay ALL by myself in Delhi (which is where I persuaded my graduation). My nana has a flat which was empty and I took over. With that I had to start paying bills in time and there were so many !! Electricity bill

Cable bill

Phone bill

Newspaper bill

Water bill

Booking a cylinder and paying for that

Grocery bill

Vegetable bill

Watchman bill

House tax (once a year)

Cleaning girl bill (my help was this girl as old me called RC . . We fought so much but we got the work done, she's got a parlour of own now and I am so proud of her!)
Here I was at 17 irritated and overwhelmed at the same time by all these bills !! Irritated because responsibility . . Overwhelmed because of all the money that was going in towards running house even though I wasn't paying for it myself but it made me realize how hard our parents our working to pay all these bills!
That's how I started taking tuitions in the evening. I taught society waala bacchaas who became my lifeline really. We would study for an hour or two and play for an hour every evening. My earnings weren't as much but they covered my own expenses and some other basics.
Then came our first long break from the college, summer holidays and I took on a full time job at a call center and woahhhh what a salary that was!! My dad taught me about SIP and mutual funds and I invested my money in monthly schemes.
Three years just flew by with me living independently and I loved every bit of it!! I am ever so grateful to my parents who trusted a college student and allowing her to live alone!

It taught me to value money ! It taught to value work that brought money!

College was over . . So what next . . . . . ??
