It all depends on us. Usually kids will have good on their own when they are taken out or when they are in school. i feel.. no harm. I feeding kid their breakfast or dinner...just to make sure they will have tummy full. Some kids are foodies.. they eat all sort of food and fond of eating. For them you can leave on their own. some are very choosy and cranky..for them it takes more than 6 yrs to have good on their own. Whenever you prepare food , which baby likes to eat...ask to eat on its own. In other cases..you can. feed. I remember yesterday...my neighbour's gal , she is almost 6 yrs..was refusing to have her lunch. I asked my neighbour to send to my home.. wherein she will play and have. Later she was not showing interest in eating. Then I started feeding her.. she completed all and even asked extra to eat. Sometimes kids will feel lazy to eat on their own or feel restricted to sit in one place and eat.

Nowadays Aanya has stopped eating on her own I have to feed her.

very interesting topic! i suggest u all sit at the table and eat and she also needs to follow. how old is she? get her a brand new colourful set of dishes, mats, etc and make her feel excited. there are pepper stories and stuff on youtube that shud help. give her a toy that is her food buddy who can sit next to her as well. if she goes to playschool the teacher can help. good luck and keep us posted.
