When to get in touch with the Pediatrician ?

For most new parents it can be over whelming when they come home with the baby. After all the baby needs full care and is the complete responsibility of the parents. There will be many panic attacks. Here is a quick checklist on the situations when you need to contact the doctor.

1. Temperature below 97.5 or greater than 99.3

2. Change in skin color to yellow.

3. Difficulty in feeding especially if the baby has refused two or more feeds. Limp and difficult to arouse.

4. Watery stools with mucus or foul odour.

5. Constipation.

6. Less than 7 wet nappies or diapers in 24 hours.

7. Projectile vomiting.

8. Sunken fontanelle.

9. Excessive crying which seems difficult to calm with varying comfort techniques.

10. Swelling, redness or pus in the cord area.
