When you feel anguished by your child’s behaviour, remember spanking is not the right way to deal with the situation. Instead, parents can follow some alternative methods that work more effectively than spanking.
Establish a friendly and supportive relationship with your child, which may encourage them to demonstrate positive behaviour and share their problems openly. If the child is always spanked, the child may see you only as a controller and not someone they can rely on.
Take time out of your day to patiently explain the right behaviour in polite words. Show them the actions that are right and wrong.
Set house rules and limits that are applicable to every house member. These rules and limitations will let a child understand that he/she is treated equally at home.
Observe potential triggers to identify what makes your child cranky and irritable. This observation will help you to avoid reoccurring the same trigger points.
Choose to ignore some actions that may not be entirely wrong or may not be too loud to spank.
