When your day starts with such news, your belief in the judicial system is restored.
.
Yes, it was a long battle for 7 years but Nirbhaya's mother didn't deter, she didn't budge, all that she was wanting was justice for her daughter who was mercilessly raped and brutally killed.
.
The convicts had it easy, yes they had an easy death and this was nothing compared to what Nirbhaya had suffered back then. I do not wish to elaborate it because the mention of it scares me of the safety of women in our country.
.
Though they say that justice delayed is justice denied, but today the Apex Court indeed proved that it's better late than never. This is a proud moment as an Indian.
.
With this I also wish to give a kind of social message about parenting. I have been told many times that since I have a son I am at relief whenever people are talking about a woman's safety and rape cases or abused cases. But little do they know that parents of a son has higher responsibility.
.
I feel so responsible to ensure that:
⏩ My son respects individuals irrespective of the gender.
⏩ My son knows what is the right kind of behavior with others.
⏩ My son knows what is acceptable and what is not.
⏩ My son knows what are his defined limits.
⏩ My son be responsible to safeguard women in his life and the ones he is surrounded by.
.
I pledge today to teach my son the right things and let him know he just can't get away doing the wrong acts. As parents of sons, the onus lies on us to make the place better for the girls to dwell. We won't have to list our girls about what can she wear or where can she go and by what time should she return back if we teach our sons right!
.
So the next time when you feel that the world is not a safe place for women to live, do me a favour by teaching your sons to make it better and happy place. And every single trial counts. Because the change begins with you, the change begins with us.
