Subha I used pigeon's breast pump it had silicon cups because of which I had no pain while pumping the milk, it was much easier and quicker. The entire set is so well made that it'll make life so much easier & once you use it, you'll never go back to hand expressing.

It depends on your personal comfort. Many moms swear by hand expression and can get more milk that way if they get the technique right. An electronic pump has to be chosen well as the wrong pump can actually cause sore and cracked nipples.

I have also used a manual breast pump (avent) and I always multi tasked while expressing. Used that time to chat on phone, finish my food or read some articles etc. Am not sure about the soreness part. Never felt so. Do try to take breaks while pumping and keep your fluid intake high. Incase you feel pain, etc do take an expert opinion.
