While we were enjoying the weekend, a vomit by my daughter caught us offguard.; Suddenly,; after vomit she developed a high fever.; I quickly gave her the medicines but fever did not subside fully but came down around 100 C..; At first we were unsure of what happened (since she had vomitted after having her lunch, we thought; it was related to food) but then around 5 pm,; she started complaining of Stomach ache and her fever went up again.; It was then we thought this needs to be shown to doctor without; delay.; At the first sight of it,; doctor declared it to be a case of Hand Foot Mouth.

This disease is caused by a virus which causes sores inside the throat,; i. e.; food pipe making swallowing; extremely difficult for the child and blisters and rashes in hands and feet. The blisters can really be itchy at times requiring an application of soothing cream which the doctor prescribed to us.;

It is a contagious; disease which spreads; through; direct contact or even through droplets left in air by sneeze or cough of an infected person.;

The typical cycle of this disease is 7-10 days but it lowers the immunity of the child very much.; Hence care has to be taken upto atleast next two months or the child would become susceptible to other diseases.;

There isnt any restriction on food groups, however; due to the sores in throat it becomes difficult to swallow hence liquids like dal,; khichdi,; soups etc should be given.;

It is heartbreaking to see the child crying out of pain. Its one of the worst forms of virus in the air and spreads like wild fire.;

Care should be taken to not take the child out much except of course doctor and also avoid any contact; with other childrens for a week after the completion of the virus cycle so as to not infect other children.;

Disclaimer : The picture is not to gross you out but just to give u an idea how the blisters look.;
