Why water is not given for babies less than 6 months ??

It's not required ... Breastmilk is food and water everything to the baby. Hence not given...<br>
Plus another reason is the immunity level of the baby is very low..so avoiding any contamination at any level. .

Hi anon, breastmilk is mostly water. The milk that comes first is foremilk that is high in water content, which satisfies baby's thirst. After that the thick milk comes which is the hindmilk. It has more fats and satisfies baby's hunger. Since the milk is already high in water, additional water isn't required to be given separately. If you give extra water, the baby's tummy will fill with it and he'll feed less which would mean him getting less hindmilk which is high in fat content and helps the baby put on weight.
