Q:

hi everyone,I want to ask one question regarding my anomaly scan,in my scan it is mention under placenta section that"a superficial lake of 14*15 mm is seen just posterior to insertion of the cord", is this imply any harmful effects to my baby, plz let me know if anybody knows about it

Dr. Payal M

placental lakes are usually harmless. they r spaces filled with maternal blood.
they r not assiciated with any adverse outcomes. only will worry if they r multiple or very large or in an odd location or  seen too early in pregnancy. ur doc might monitor it. don't worry

Priti Khandelwal

in my case is it large enough or in a location to harm my baby?also my anomaly scan was done when I was 18 weeks pregnant,

Dr. Payal M

no. i would say its not worrisome.
