hi can i add apple to rice porridge , my baby is not completing rice porridge as it's with no sweet , I want to add apple and make it little sweeter along with formula , this combination is fine , for a 6 month baby or it will be heavy and lead to constipation , ease suggest I hav3 started weaning my preemie.



apple or pear sauce or lil fresh banana is best...

Since your baby has completed 6 months you can make some dates puree at home at add 1tbsp of the same to it. It will sweeten it enough for the baby's taste

K it's better to keep all fruits

It is better not to mix fruits with cereals. You can use feed her sweet potato puree - it is a good source of carbohydrates, minerals as well as fibre. Plus it's naturally sweet. It's a popular baby food. but steam it, puree it and then offer. otherwise the fibres may be difficult for her to eat.

aradhnana you can add caroot with cereal...as carrot is also sweet.

i dont support cereal feeding to babies  as u dnt know ur child's hunger. at this age 80% of nutrition shud come from ur feed and rest 20% shud come from semi solids. when u feed a porridge to a child u go by ur instints. u presume the level of hunger and we keep on pushung food in baby mouth.. not knowing if the child wants it or not.. ultimately the child grows into a fussy eater.. who may or may not like the food at all.. then there are other things as well.

the child is eating cause u r feeding. they dont associate food with hunger so they have no clue that porridge is to curb their hunger.. he will cry when he is hungry .. for him its only ur feed.

i didnt feed cerels or cerelac or formula to my kids. they were on mashed / semi solid food from 6 months and on my feed till 18-19 months. every parent has their own choice and u can feed what u think is the best.

all fruits puree like sweet puree I hv tried. 

but now m starting wd cereals

add lil jeggery for sweeten.  avoid cereal or cerelac. give fresh mashed fruits n vegetables like mashed banana, chickoo, papaya, Apple puree, Dal water, mashed carrot, peas, mashed sweet potato, mashed khichdi etc. if there is constipation   then avoid Apple puree, nd give papaya.

Aradhana, I would suggest speaking with your paediatrician about this, as each child is different and has different needs and wants. Hope this helps!
