What's the science / logic of covering the head /ears...  keeping your self worm after deliver
it is EXTREMELY HOT here and I sweat like a beast
Do we have to follow this?!
how many of you'll DID NOT followed this practice
did you guys face any problems in the future ?

Sonali Shivlani

There is no science behind this. Post delivery you will loose a lot of body fluid as this is increased during pregnancy and in fact you can expect to sweat much more. Follow your comfort.

Sheeba Vijesh

i did not cover myself... its just a myth dear...

Divya Chopra

yes i have also seen my sister's mil scolding in the hospital to cover herself after delivery. i think must be an old logic by elder people. but now we all follow the latest and modern techniques so i think yes we should follow our comfort.

Priya Sood

Brilliant question - my nani told me and packed a scarf for me. Strongly recommended that i cover my ears and head. No logic given but i did follow. According to her it protects your head.
Did you follow this Nazeema Shaheen, Ankita Popli, Disha Gandhi?

Sonia Gupta

I did not cover..though I delivered in winter's.. I use to feel suffocated with coverings so I nvr followed what my mom or nani said related to covering up.

shweta shastry

it's just a myth and one of the million superstitions that we are subjected to. my mil was so pesky about doing this .. I still did not... firstly we r not in the best of health n spirits after pregnancy and then expecting us to do stuff like this makes us more uncomfortable and irritable pls avoid !!!

Dinal Shah Gandhi

never followed this...its just a myth.

gomathi palani

we don't have such practice at all.

Ritu Rana

I think those days are gone now where new moms need to cover herself coz now doctor's prescribed new moms supplements for calcium and other vitamins so that you regain your strength and won't face any bones related problems in future. So relax and do whatever you are comfortable with. Every lady says abhi pata nahi chalta Baad me pata chalta Hai. but according to me concentrate on your diet and do exercises on regular basis will have no affect in future..

Ankita Popli

all myth,.   never followed any of these.... I just took care of my meals and had jeera water.

Durga Salvi

no...dear...it's just myth...I don't cover myself..old ladies ne kha...

Nazeema Shaheen

thanks for the tag Priya Sood,I never followed this ritual though it was strictly recommend by all my visitors at hospital, coz I felt it suffocating.
I feel the logic behind this is simple...after delivery our bodies are very weak and due to low immunity we are more likely to catch cold n cough  which is not good for the stitches in both types of deliveries.hence it's being followed to keep us warm.and the rest is just myth.

Nisha Dayal

I never  covered myself or my little Princess. She was born in  March and  Kerala is extremely humid.

Debarati Das

just be comfortable.... the only logic is that if the mother gets ill, the baby will immediately contract it. just go on with ur normal routine life and stay healthy.... that's it.

Harneet (clanpedia)

the logic is the body is weak after ur delivery.. the hormones are all over the place and ur body is not at its peak. therr are chances of u getting sick or infections. so just as a precautionary we are asked to cover the head.
