Q:

I am due in Feb 1st week. I am considering buying a crib for the baby . I am worried of letting the baby sleep on the bed since me or my husband may accidentally hurt the baby. Do newborns sleep in cribs? Any suggestions?

There are many schools of thought for baby sleep. Co sleeping is considered great for bonding and also easy to breast feed the baby. Sleeping in another room in a crib with a baby monitor is another option which makes the baby independent and habituated from day one. The third and in between solution is to have the baby in a crib but in your room and next to your bed. Yes a new born will sleep in any of the above situations - it depends on how you feel and what the baby gets used to.

Dear madhuvizhi j , buying a crib is a very good idea , u have made a wise choice. yes newborns can perfectly sleep in their crib . swaddle ur baby nicely and she can sleep from day 1 in her crib its a healthy practice . for the first few months just place the crib near ur bed for ease of breastfeeding

newborn baby should be closely kept with mom. helps in bonding with your child n when you touch your baby, your hormones will also respond positively
