Q:

should i buy a cot or crib for my baby or i can make him/her sleep with me on my bed?

i co-slept with my baby from birth till now. it is better for bonding and easier while night feeding. my cradle was infact a waste as baby has hardly slept in it. if you want baby to sleep separately, you could go ahead.

hi pooja... even i am looking for cots and cribs... since i am into furniture business so i am getting it made. the height is same as my bed height and i am getting it made one side openable option so that i can join it with my bed in the night so that the baby sleeps separate but at the same time combined with our bed. i am not comfortable with the baby sleeping in between us, we might turn sides and hurt the baby unknowingly in the night.

Co-sleeping? Why not! but we can't sleep with our kids for ever. I shared my bed with my baby girl for the first 9 months - as long as I was breastfeeding. When she turned 9 months she didn't want to eat my milk anymore and I decided that it's the best time to teach her to sleep on her own in her crib. I've found some info about Susan Urban's short ebook "How to teach a baby to fall asleep alone" ( www.parental-love.com ). The guide leads you step by step so I knew exactly what to do and how to do it . It worked extremely well! It took me 4 days to make her fall asleep on her own in her crib and she stopped waking up many times at night. Only 4 days after 9 months co-sleeping - WOW! So anybody who wants to transfer a baby to a crib should read it. And what is the best you can start doing it when your baby turns 3 months old or later like I did! Good luck!!

Janine thank you for your story! I purchased the S. Urban's guide after reading your story and I have got to say I am shocked how great it is. Short with step by step instructions. Even my husband loves it even though he was always sceptic about this kind of help. Thanks

After searching the net for a quite some time and seeing people talking about Susan Urban's guide good things like Janine Sidwell here I thought it must be a good book and I decided to give it a try - the resuts are awesome! just a few days of the method described in HOW TO TEACH A BABY TO FALL ASLEEP ALONE guide my son started to fall asleep alone i his crib after 8 months of co-sleeping! couldn't be better! I highly recommend this guide
