Q:

Hi all, I have 6+ month baby. I left my job to take care of him as I do not have anyone to look after. I do not have mother and MIL. I am finding very hard to manage him as he is hyper active trying to move entire home. Need to always keep eye on him. I cant keep nanny to take care also. Please help how can I manage him alone.

Hi Anon, I feel you. I too had to single handedly manage my daughter since there was no one else with me. Some of the things that helped me were-
After giving morning feed and massage to the baby, I would leave her for a while with her dad to play. Mostly she would be in a happy mood after being well fed, so it became easier for me to prepare breakfast and lunch. I used to prepare breakfast and lunch together, so that I don't spend too much time in the kitchen.
My maid used to come n do cleaning mopping by the time I finished with kitchen work. Call your maid preferably by the time your husband hasn't left for office so that you can have your bath by then, as it's difficult to go have a bath with a baby. After giving her bath, I used to give her breakfast n then feed n settle her for morning nap. Once she would nap, I would prepare for dinner, chop the veggies and knead the dough. Then after she woke up, I used to give her lunch, have lunch myself and play with her for a while. Then mostly she would take her afternoon nap, when I would usually finish cooking dinner so that I m just left with making chapatis for dinner. I would rest with her for sometime till she woke up. After she woke up, I would feed her/ evening snack take her for a walk in the garden. Gave her dinner/night feed and put her to sleep. If she didn't sleep then I would hand her over to my husband who returned back by then, n make chapatis for dinner. I used to prepare for the breakfast n husband's tiffin for the next day in the night itself so that it wouldn't take much time in the morning. The key is, finish your work when the baby naps or when husband is at home, so that you too get some rest when the baby naps, and you can give him attention when he is awake. All the best.

Hi Anon do not worry , I know it's very difficult but you will manage. Do hire a help. Take the baby out everyday, Have you heard of Babywearing? It will help you a lot.

Thank you Rebecca..
