Q:

for home made grains,I have a query....if I skip.the process of showing sun, as there is no proper terrace n sun this days due to rainy season....can I keep n store grains like ragi after soaking overnight ..n then washing ,drying in fan air, and then roasting in grinding,..then storing is this fine , or it is always important to show sunlight , I want to make home made ragi powder now as m not satisfied with brands now, also for home made cerelac can I follow this . there is no sun light to show now..please advice



hi dear, drying in sun ensures that the ground cereals will stay fresh for months, otherwise they can go bad easily. its not necessary it will go bad, but chance is higher. one option is to make very small batch, that way it will get finished quickly...

one week will be too less, 2-3 weeks it will stay fresh if you dont touch the powder with wet hands or spoon and store in air tight container...

ya, you may have to sieve and grind multiple times

One additional note Aradhana Sharma. I usually keep the powder in the fridge in an eversilver tight container. Before i start my preparation will take it out. As my mom suggested this to avoid getting insects into the vessel which usually comes for any organic /unpolished food items.
