Try and keep them in a place that's reachable for your baby.

As Priya mentioned, just having a fun looking bookshelf is not enough to get your child motivated to read. You need to make reading a routine and a fun experience. Use colourful books with great illustrations, make reading an interactive fun process and get excited about all things book related! Automatically then your child will also want to read and explore!

Welcome anon! You can create a routine of reading with your child everyday. You need not force the child if s/he is not interested but sit with a book everyday and let him/her see that as a routine. You can red aloud/point to a picture and ask the child what s/he thinks about it

When you go out to buy books, make sure you involve the child in choosing the books, when you are setting up a place for the books, get the child to help you with arranging..that should get the child interested
