The Dreamer Mum

hi, your baby is still.small.and can't crawl thus it's manageable. keep baby on bed and sweep and vacuum each n every cor er of the room. by tomorrow all traces should be gone and then you can happy let the kid be on floor also...

Priya

hi. first of all take a deep breathe. its going to be ok. take the baby in another room and ensure the room is completely clean. also you may wanna go digital for thermometer

Vidya Rathod

use vaccum cleaner and clean it ,later wipe using wet cloth.

BabyChakra Expert

Hey dont worry Aarti.

What kind of thermometer was it?

Potentially harmful effects from broken thermometers vary depending on the type of thermometer. The most concerning are mercury-containing thermometers. The least concerning are the digital/electronic thermometers because they contain no potentially hazardous liquids that can spill if broken.

Secondly take your baby to another room so there is no potential hazard to him / her.

Thirdly, immediately clean the mercury. Don't use broom or vaccum cleaner. Do you plan to all do it yourself? Or call a professional?

Aarti Jadhav Kurup

hi... no I thoroughly cleaned it with sticky tape and got most of mercury beads out of the room..also which professional agency can help me in cleaning this up? thanks a ton guys for your support

Aarti Jadhav Kurup

my worry is only my baby as I shouldn't affect her in anyway

Neha Agarwal

Do not use vaccum cleaner !!

BabyChakra Expert

Also ensure you discard mercury very very carefully. You obviously do not want someone else to get affected too. Put all items in trash bag that came in contact. Contact local health services to find out how to discard. It shouldn't obviously go in regular trash as it is hazardous.

If possible, open a window and use a fan to ventilate the area to the outdoors for 24-48 hours before resuming normal use.

Neha Agarwal

Maybe try contacting Municipal corporation for discarding of mercury.

Neha Agarwal

Which city r u from? maybe try contacting urban clap. They might know how to clean professionally and also discard ?

Aarti Jadhav Kurup

yup put it in trash all the clothes that were lying around has also been thrown away in a bag.. have asked my security to inform the garbage truck managers to handle it with care

BabyChakra Expert

U can check remaining beads through flashlight.. It will locate the ones at angles or corners.

Bakul Parekh

you have taken enough care ..so don't worry
