Q:

My kid is not interested in writing. He is so reluctant to even hold a pencil. And school is covering a new alphabet every alternate day. How do I get him to learn and write?

Don't force the child to read and write. It's alright if he is not ready to write as yet. At home, try to involve him in various activities for pre writing skills. Give him playing cards and plastic numbers and alphabets to play with and recognise the letters and numbers. Talk to the teacher in school and take her in confidence. Every child learns at his or her own pace.

Don't force him to write.. make him trace alphabets first.. slowly they pick..
When my kid was not writing I started showing him how to write his name my name.. some other stuff.. slowly he picked..
Each kid is different so don't worry...

Dear Rachita, Seems like you have some good advice already, but I would like to add that consulting an Occupational Therapist at this stage may also be a good idea to get more suggestions on how to help your son better. Hope this helps!
